All Different Kinds Of Ladders

There are so many instances when a ladder could come in handy around a house. They might sit around for months without ever being used, but they're so great to have whenever a certain situation calls for one. All ladders are not created equal, though, as there are many different kinds of them. This article will specifically discuss three different kinds and what makes each kind special.

Many ladders these days are made out of fiberglass. There are many great things about owning a ladder made out of fiberglass. It won't start on fire, it doesn't absorb moisture, and they aren't very expensive. It may not be so important for a home ladder to be fire resistant, but it's really important to have a ladder that resists moisture absorption. Many times these products are placed in garages and basements, and water can surely get into those rooms. Also, a ladder may have to be used in a certain area where water is standing. In any case, it's important to have a ladder that won't be damaged by something as simple as water. One made out of fiberglass definitely has that great benefit.

There are also ladders made out of aluminum. One of the greatest things about aluminum is that anything made out of it is extremely light. A ladder made out of aluminum will be much lighter than another ladder of the same size made out of fiberglass and wood. This is nice, because just about anyone will be able to take the ladder where it needs to go. However, one downfall of an aluminum ladder is that it is a conductor, so it shouldn't be used anywhere electricity may be a threat.

A third different kind of ladder is a wooden ladder. Most ladders made out of wood are pull down models that have stairs that lead someone into a basement. However, a traditional ladder may also be made out of wood. Wood is usually very sturdy, but it can rot out real easy. Also, a wood model can be extremely heavy, so it may be hard for some people to carry it around. I hope this article has been beneficial to those shopping for a ladder.

Attic Ladders

By Damian Sofsian
An attic ladder is a set of folding steps that can be accessed easily, and folded up when not in use. For homes, garages and warehouses, it is preferred to use this ladder rather than a staircase since it frees up ground space when not in use. Attic ladders are used for entering an overhead area of storage, called an attic. To open an attic ladder that is folded up, a pull cord or a ring is provided for pulling it down. Once opened, the ladder should touch the ground at an angle so that it is easy to climb up. It is better if attic ladders are fitted with 3 to 5 inches rungs that should be slip resistant.
